So Cash For Clunkers Went Something Like This:

• A  vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a year of gasoline.                       
• A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year. 

It follows then that the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.

So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $350 million…

How Good A Deal Was That ???

There has certainly been some exciting Football during the Season Opening Weekend 2009. Some teams are starting according to expectation, a few gave us early upsets, and other teams show increased promise over the next 16 weeks.

We should enjoy the 2009 Football Season and root for our teams to come out on top. But We’ve got to make sure We The  People Come Out On Top For America!

We must never forget that Obama and Administration plus Congress are Lurking Tall in the Background Hoping for us to be distracted, Take Our Eye off the Ball So To Speak, so that they can “Ram” Socialized Healthcare and Further Socialism Down Our Throats. We cannot be distracted…Not Even By A Football Game.

As Obama plans to address Congress this Wednesday with a push to Strap a Socialized Healthcare Agenda around Our Necks, He and the Adminstration are hoping that we are distracted by Football and other personal activites.

Make No Mistake,  Obama is planning his own set of deceptive plays this week and he wants to win at all costs. First he wants to go into Wednesday with improved Poll Numbers. The announcements over the weekend of the resignation of Czar Van Jones and a willingness by Obama to compromise on a Public Socialized Healthcare Program are carefully designed ploys to raise Approval Numbers. “Well he’s finally seeing the light…he’s not so bad after all”, This is what the Administration hopes the American People will fall for. DON’T DO IT!

Next, Remember the words of Dr.Charles Krauthammer on “The Real Obama“, “Obama has a way of making you think he’s on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay No Attention To What He Says; Rather…WATCH WHAT HE DOES!”

• We’re going to get a health care plan shoved down our throats that is written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it
• passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts itself from it
• signed by a President who smokes and also hasn’t read it
• with funding administered by a Treasury Chief who didn’t pay his taxes
• overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese
•  financed by a country that’s nearly broke.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

This came to me from a facebook source who has no idea where they got it.  I hope the anonymous author will be glad that their message continues to circulate.

 
Dr. Charles Krauthammer is a Great American who has not only overcome extreme physical disability but who is also intellectually brilliant, a Pulitzer Prize winner, a frequent contributor to Fox News, and who writes weekly for the Washington Post. He is seasoned, articulate, careful in analysis, and  his insights command deep respect.

Dr. Krauthammer spoke recently about Barack Obama and Administation. Here is a summary of his comments…

1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual.
He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn’t show his
emotions. It’s very hard to know what’s behind the mask. Taking down
the Clinton dynasty from a political neophyte was an amazing
accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and
Clinton. He has a way of making you think he’s on your side, agreeing with
your position, while doing the opposite. Pay No Attention To What He Says;
Rather……,WATCH WHAT HE DOES!

3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to
Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change
everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can’t be
straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to
model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .

4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC
EDUCATION, AND NATIONAL HEALTH CARE by the Federal government. He doesn’t care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add
46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs
will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive
RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God forbid.

5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic
types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they
are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other
industries. This obviously can’t work in the long run. Obama is not a
socialist; rather he’s a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short
of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left.
Again, watch what he does, not what he says.

6. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the
United States , but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above
it all, trying to orchestrate and coordinate various countries and their
agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in
Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America, as an
imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble
nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever
who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill
(and pain) will not come due until after he is re-elected in 2012. He
would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully
his successor in the future. He has a huge ego, and Mr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge
strong. We’re pining for another Reagan, but there will never be
another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and
Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the
future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has
baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be
seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious
candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes,
smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state’s rights.

9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and
outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead tohyper-inflation, depression or worse. No country has ever
spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid
and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the
bill will come due and people will realize the huge bail outs didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman
brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act
emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be
swept back into power. If it’s under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If
it’s between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the
economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what’s happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the
faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we’re
right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it’s far
too late.

Do yourself a long term favor, send this to all who will listen to an
intelligent assessment of the big picture. All our futures and children’s futures depend on our good understanding of what is really going on in DC!!!! And our action pursuant to that understanding!!!

Congresswoman Michelle Bachman took to the floor of the House of Representatives recently and likened Obama’s America to the sinking Titanic.

“We will always be a superpower,” she said. “But one thing that has kept us a superpower has been freedom, free market economists. We are in the process of watching the deconstruction of free market economists before our very eyes, something we have never seen. But as the ice ripped that hole in the Titanic, water started being taken on, and the engineer came out and brought the blueprint of the Titanic. Water came into the first chamber, spilled over to the second, spilled over to the third, and by the time it filled up so many chambers, it was over. It was impossible to resurrect that ship.”

She also called out America’s expanding “Gangster Government”. Al Capone has got nothing on Obama and administration…

There Are No “Green Shoots!”  There are however an increasing number of points or dots being planted out there by Obama and administration in the form of legislation, statements, gestures, and symbolisms that when connected show a dynamic image of a more “Sinister Growth” plan.

First a little stage setting background is called for. Barack Obama is a student of Saul Alinsky and his writing Rules For Radicals, which has as its main theme, “Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It, and Polarize It”  A good overview of the connection between Obama and Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals is found on the American Thinker.

Consider that Obama is not the cool, calm, articulate guy that the mainstream media presents him to be; that he is in fact very cold, calculating and angry. Consider that he has deep seated anger at the discrimination and slavery that are part of the history of America, that the proper price has not been paid for it yet, that America should be no better than any other country, and that he feels the wrong people have wealth and prosperity in our country.

He has grown up around people that despise wealth and prosperity with a belief that Americans have achieved wealth through cheating and dishonesty. Think for a moment that he also believes that he is the one that must make everything right through equalization or in other words, socialism…

Further consider that Obama and administration have a long range plan to exert power and control over the people of America through government dependency, thus turning our Country into a totalitarian state needing Obama as a life-long leader.

Take A Look At What We Know And This Is Just For The First 6 Months Of Obama And Administration:

• Obama is determined to use his Presidency and government to effect Long-term change-no matter how pressing the immediate problems, cites Larry Summers, Director of Obama’s National Economic Council.
• In other words, Obama is  determined to control America through government. His focus is on the big government tax and spend measures
• Mr. Obama continues on his quest to control the lives of Americans through Government Health care dependency and further restrict their lives with Cap and Trade taxation that will tax and regulate businesses and successful Americans thus redistributing wealth toward equality or socialism.
• He and administration have thrown billions of dollars at large failing businesses, taken control of those and further expanded his government reach over Americans all at future tax payers expense.
• The administration’s so called stimulus package which cost $787 Billion taxpayer dollars has very little activity that will put people to work, nor does it provide incentive for businesses to hire new workers. It doesn’t place money in the hands of Americans for mortgages, goods and services that will jump start our economy. But as he has said,… this is not where his main focus is directed.
• Obama has stated that he is held back by a Constitution that is too restrictive and antiquated.
• Our Constitution, its principles and values is rooted in a Christian foundation and its timeless. Liberty and freedom are never out of style.
• Obama was silent on May 7th, the National Day of Prayer, did not host a National Prayer Breakfast, and says America is not a Christian nation even though 75% of the electorate claim to believe in God.
• Obama, leader of the Free World, leader of America, home of the Free and the Brave continues to fly all over the world telling other nations what to do and at the same time apologizing for America. This reduces our standing in the world to just another “participating partner”, no longer able to assert its moral authority or flex its proud military might in order to protect and preserve freedom and liberty.
• Obama supports foreign leaders who seek to circumvent their country’s constitutional authority so to assume  a dictator governance as we see  in Honduras.
• Obama has racked up an unprecedented One Trillion Dollar Deficit over the first half of 2009 with a Two Trillion Dollar Deficit projected by year end 2009. Interest payments on U.S. debt almost equal our  U.S. defense budget which Obama is in the process of restricting.

When one connects the “dots” of all these factors a picture begins to emerge. The picture is an Obama and administration with long range plans to exert power and control over the American People through dependency on Obama controlled government programs, thus turning our Country into a totalitarian state needing Obama as a life-long leader.

Obama is following a step by step plan to achieve this objective applying Alinsky principles, Pick The Target, Freeze It, Personalize It, and Polarize It:

• The Target is America and The American People who drive the free market engines of Our Country
• The Freeze is occurring as Obama continues to focus on his quest to control the lives of Americans through Government Health care dependency and further restrict their lives with Cap and Trade taxation that will tax and regulate businesses and successful Americans thus redistributing wealth toward equality or socialism. While he has no problem misleading adoring followers with false statements that his government stimulus programs will soon lift the U.S. Economy, which it won’t and he knows it, He is not going to allow such side issues as the Health and Well Being of our U.S. Economy to deter him on his quest for control.
• Personalizing The Target is occurring right under our noses as Obama  continues to weaken the resolve of  Americans by design through job losses, income losses, home losses, higher taxation around the corner, and a false premise that government dependent health care will make life better.
• Polarization will come if a large number of Americans  become downtrodden, frightened into believing they can’t go a day without health care, and afraid to exert our freedom for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness from the Obama federal government.
• Repeal of the 22 Amendment, this is the final phase of Obama’s quest. With Pick The Target, Freeze It, Personalize It, and Polarize It accomplished, weak, dependent America will need Obama to continue to be President over all the massive government programs he has created that everyone depends on…CHECKMATE!

FARFETCHED?…Maybe, but a farfetched response is becoming more diluted everyday. POSSIBLE?…Well, just go back to this time last year, July 2008, and see how many 180 degree turns and changes  we’ve seen that you never would have believed last year…

That’s right folks…Count the zeros, 12 places,  Obama’s USA has rung up over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS in yearly deficits; and that’s just for the first six months of 2009!  The total deficit for 2009 by year end is projected to reach nearly $2,000,000,000,000….

Are you aware  that the Interest payments alone that America must pay on it’s debt load is almost as great as our entire Defense Budget presently…

The Media is working overtime trying to get the American People to respond to the Obama Administration’s words. “We’re about to come back,” “We’ve bottomed out”, “Our backs are no longer against the wall,” “We’ve got Green Shoots,”…There Are No Green Shoots!…And The Job Losses Keep Coming!

Here’s a chart along with last weeks weaker than expected employment report

The chart shows unemployment during every recession since WWII. For every recession there is a falling employment line on the left and a dramatic uptick on the right side forming a U shape as jobs are gained. Some recessions were deeper than others and some lasted longer.

It’s important to note that “something” happened in each recession that caused a bottom to the left downward trend and shot employment dramatically upward on the right. That “something” in each case involved putting money in the hands of the people through tax cuts and incentives to businesses that led to hiring in the private sector, putting people back to work, and led to more purchases as well as increased tax revenues.

The recession that we are currently in is shown on the chart as a Red Line and it is in a “Direct Nose Dive” with no “U” shaped upturn in sight. it’s a Bright Red Line all by itself. So with stimulus and tarp falling flat like we knew it would, what magic trick does Obama and administration have to jump start the economy and put people back to work? Nothing!…There isn’t one Obama or Democrat Party policy that is going to advance economic and jobs growth. The CARS program might sell a few automobiles, but a lot of folks with “clunkers” are not going to qualify for vehicle loans the way things are. That “Red Line” aint going no where but further down…

Right now, Prudent Employers are applying a combination of strategies that include laying workers off while changing the status of others from full time to part time. This is changing the standard work week from 40 hours per week to 33 hours per week. So not only is unemployment continuing to increase but our weekly productivity and earning power is decreasing.

If you are a smart business owner your focus right now is just to stay in business. You are not hiring workers. You are looking over the political and economic landscape and thinking “What happens to me and my business with the passage of this cap and trade fiasco. What will this nationized health care do to me if it passes?” These two huge unknowns are paralyzing business. Businesses can’t make plans when they have no idea what the economic climate is going to be and everything is so up in the air.

Before any uptick in employment ever takes place smart employers will first increase the work hours of their existing employment before hiring any additional help.

So look for that “Red Chart Line” to keep on going down, down, down for quite a while… 

On this Independence Day Weekend 2009 we are reminded of phrases in the Declaration Of Independence:

• All men are created equal
• That they are endowed by their Creator
• Have certain unalienable rights, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness
• To secure these rights, government derives its power from the consent of the governed.
• Whenever government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.
• Government foundation should be laid out by the people in such form to most likely effect their safety and happiness.

We at Conservalinked are deeply disturbed by the current national government’s policies causing our Great Country to spiral down a very destructive path. The question is whether Obama and Administration are deeply concerned at the continuous downward trends that their actions and policies have America following?…We Don’t Think So…

Consider that Obama and administration have a long range plan to exert power and control over the people of America through government dependency, thus turning our Country into a totalitarian state needing Obama as a life-long leader.

The center piece for this kind of objective is government controlled health care. Getting nationalized health care permits a cradle-to grave “Nanny State” control over all individuals and every aspect of their lives. Once the federal government is in charge of every American’s health care, there is no turning back. Think about it, people’s lives will be too woven, dependent, and intertwined with government to turn back, at least not very easily.

With a large number of Americans being frightened into believing that they can’t go a day without  health care, “We The People” will be downtrodden and afraid to exert our freedom for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness from the Obama federal government.

The government under Obama has been saying since Day One that all their political programs are bringing our economy back to life. They’ve rammed stimulus and spend, spend, spend down our throats claiming shovel ready projects, jobs creation, and economy revitilization. “We’ve got green shoots and things will get better soon”, they said.

The Dirty Truth is that none of that is happening and it is not going to happen because the Obama administration doesn’t want it to… We are still losing  jobs and will continue to lose jobs because there is not one Obama or Democrat Party policy on the horizon that will put money and jobs in the hands of the people. Think about it though, if total control of the American people is the main objective to be achieved through government controlled health care and fear, wouldn’t that objective of total control be easier to achieve with more people unemployed, losing their jobs, hurting, and with the fear of no health care?…

Are You Disturbed By These Headlines?…You Should Be…Your current government’s stimulus and “big government” actions are not working, and won’t because none of it is serving to place money in the hands of the people, expand free enterprise, and provide adequate incentive to jump-start the housing market.

Furthermore, Your House of Representatives has just approved a Cap and Trade Bill by a narrow vote of  219 to 212. There were 8 Republican representatives who crossed over to vote yes for it and 40 Democratic representatives who voted against it. This is legislation that if passed will drive your monthly household utility bills and fuel expenses through the roof! In addition, if you want to sell your house it will first have to pass a government energy efficiency inspection. For most existing homes, this will require costly energy upgrades that may be cost prohibitive for many homeowners.

The basic idea for this cap and trade thing is this;… The bill sets a cap on emisions of greenhouse gases that supposedly cause global warming. By 2020, emissions must be reduced 17% over 2005 levels. By 2050, emissions must be reduced 80% or more. 

According to House Republican Leader John A. Boehner, the Cap and Trade Bill will cost the economy upwards of 2.7 million jobs, and is a “job-killing energy tax, courtesy of Speaker Pelosi. This is going to force small businesses and their workers and families to pay more for electricity, gasoline, and other products that are made in America that have high energy content.”

STOP RIGHT THERE… The basic idea of cap and trade is the false premise that global warming exists, and that it is man-made. Over 7000 climate scientists have spoken out and signed a petition that states “climate change” is not caused by man, and will happen with or without man, as it has done for thousands of years.

Bury your Emotional Red Hat somewhere and ask yourself these questions:

• Can you afford utility bills that may be higher than a mortgage payment?
• Will you be able to afford higher fuel prices for your car, maybe $4.00 to $6.00 a gallon?
• Will you be able to purchase, qualify for a loan, and make payments on a small vehicle for as long as 72 months, that may improve gas mileage, but that doesn’t meet your family’s personal or transportation needs?
• If you want to sell your home, are you prepared to spend $$ Thousands $$ of Dollars for energy improvements that the government says you must make before your home can be sold?
• Do you have the income to support sky-rocketing prices for all other goods and services that are affected by forced higher energy and fuel costs?
• Are you confident that your job is secure in an environment where costs and prices are increasing while consumer buying is decreasing, thus forcing more job losses as companies struggle to hang on to viability?
• Take another look at the Independence Day Headlines 2009…Can they get far worse with your present government’s agenda and actions?

 Cap and Trade is nothing more than one of the largest taxing ideas ever. Shortly after President Obama was elected, well-known Alabama businessman James W. Fullington sent a letter proposing a simple plan to stimulate the economy to the White House.  He has yet to get a response:

Dear Mr. President,

I listen to both the liberal and conservative news each day.  It simply amazes me that none of these news services ever mention the word INVENTORY!

The key to our country getting out of the economic crisis that we are currently in is to purchase inventory so that manufacurers wil have to replace it.  The simplest way to expedite this process is to take the following steps:

A tax credit of up to $20,000 would be given to an individual or a family for the purchase of a car or home. The purchase would have to occur within 90 days after the plan is made available to the taxpayer by the government. The tax credit cannot exceed the tax liability of the individual or family.

Once this plan is implemented, it becomes like a peristaltic wave. It causes the manufacturing process to crank up again.  Once this process starts, it creates new jobs and new income to go into the general economy. This method will utilize manpower , dollars, and create a healthy growth.  The current program that has been put before the Congress as a stimulus  plan is so unworkable that it is like planting a tree upside down and expecting it to grow and be productive. 

In summary, I believe as Ronald Reagan did, that a plan should be simple and workable so that even the stupid will understand it, - so this should include the Congress.

With a 4.5 GPA and headed to Harvard in the fall Jem Lugo earned her position as valedictorian of her graduating class at Springstead High. She set out to deliver a creative original graduation speech humorously laced with her thoughts, feelings, and observations about life that would stay with her classmates long after the caps and gowns had been shed….

Ms Lugo successfully crafted the speech she envisioned only to have it canned by the ugly hand of censorship delivered by her Principal and school advisers. They claimed it was to real and might offend someone.

Lem Lugo was forced instead to deliver a  stale conventional template not of her own voice full of  “candyland” platitudes and things like always be true to (fill in the blank) High,…but, not before cleverly outmaneuvering the stodgy school advisers that shut her down.

Ms Lugo took her story to the local media outlets and within hours her story went global encompassing Internet, National Talk Radio, and TV…

Our condolences go out to the Springstead High Principal and other school advisers to Ms Lugo. They lost bigger than they ever hoped to gain by restricting Ms Lugos Freedom of Speech. We doubt there is a single fellow classmate  who has not read Ms Lugo’s original speech not to mention the thousands elsewhere who are acquainted with it now. 

Here is Springstead High School valedictorian Jem Lugo’s original speech, which was rejected, then followed by the one she was forced to give:

Springstead High School’s class of 2009. Look around you. This is it.

No more essays, no more FCAT, no more required reading. We survived 13 grueling years of school, all for this moment, where we get to wear gowns that kind of remind me of a silk version of a Snuggie, and these hats that make every single one of us look absolutely ridiculous. Hate to break it to you, but no one looks good in these hats. Even you, Ben Noury.

So, I was stuck with this arduous task of extra writing to create this speech, and I decided to make this different. I’m not gonna get up here and start spouting these crazy incomprehensible seven syllable words I probably can’t even pronounce. Why would I want to do that? Last time I checked, we’re done with school. We don’t want to THINK anymore. I would never, ever put you all through that pain. Another thing, nobody in speeches ever tells you what you actually need to know in life. They stand up here and gush about these lofty, inspirational concepts that are supposed to make you feel all warm and gooey inside. You know, I could stand up here and tell you all that I have a dream for this class, that among us are future doctors, lawyers, maybe even the next president, and you guys need to go out there and seize the day! Carpe diem! But really, what good would that do you? How much help will my words be when you wake up tomorrow, and realize that it truly is over? The babied path that’s been set out for you since you were born has ended. You’ve left the womb, the cord’s been cut, congratulations, welcome to your life. Your choices actually matter now, and your future is finally in your own hands. Sure, telling you to seize the day sounds impressive, but how are you going to know how to seize it?

Instead, I’m going to remind you of some basic concepts you can actually apply to your life. Crazy, right?

First off, get money. You can’t do anything without money. Do something with your life where you’re able to have a steady, reliable, source of income. Gamers, I’m sorry, but farming for gold in World of Warcraft is not considered a RELIABLE, or socially-acceptable source of income.

Second, after you have your money, be sure to pay your taxes. I hear the IRS can get pretty nasty with tax avoiders.

Also, don’t get arrested. Sure, the jail lifestyle might seem like a luxury nowadays, but in 20 years, when you’re going for that top-notch CEO position, that misdemeanor you got for stealing a street sign with your friends might just come back and bite you in the butt.

Moreover, take some time in your life to stand up for something. Whether it’s a stance for pro-choice, religious debate, vegetarianism, or even something as simple as cleaner bathrooms, just make sure your voice is heard. It feels good to stick it to The Man every once in awhile.

And though you will be earning your steady income with your job, make sure not to waste your entire life working. You’re making this money for a reason. Use it to have some fun. Go out and party. Use all of your vacation days. Use it to travel. Explore the world. Free yourself from the monotony of the workforce. I promise you, having fun will keep you sane.

Be sure to have that one person or thing that makes you smile whenever you see it. I’m not going to put on an act and tell you you’re future’s going to be peachy. No, life is gonna suck sometimes. Believe me, you’re gonna need that one thing in your life that can always brighten your day, whether it’s a significant other, a dog, a lava lamp, or the blankie you’ve had since you were a baby. Hey, whatever it takes to smile.

A few other basics to remember. Always say please and thank you; it’s always appreciated. Wash your hands when you leave the bathroom; you’d be surprised how many people don’t. Listen to your gut instinct and your conscience. When there’s a choice between the little angel on one side, and the little devil on the other, please listen to the angel. Respect your elders, because one day, you’ll be old too. Plus, they might leave you something in their will. Don’t treat Spelling and Grammar check as a God. It definitely misses things. If you ever achieve any sort of fame or acclaim in your life, don’t mess it up. Think Michael Phelps and Britney Spears. And if your mother would not approve of your actions, then you probably shouldn’t be doing it. Don’t believe everything you hear or read, and definitely don’t click on every link someone sends you. Some of us have learned that the hard way. Countless times, I’ve been duped into clicking links that sent me to the music video of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” I’m not sure if I’ll ever properly get that song out of my head.

But, the most important thing that I can tell you tonight is to remember where you came from. You were an eagle once. We’ve been through four long years here. Some of us have loved it, some of us have hated it, but we all had to endure it, and for all of us, it’s finally over. What’s Springstead going to be like without us? The academic world is going to be missing some of its top performers, and the sports are going to be hurting without some of their best players. Mr. Pennington is not going to know what to do without his core group of seniors that are graduating. No one’s going to be rampaging through the hallways, brandishing signs with their name. Frankly, Springstead’s going to be a lonely place without us. We’ve survived a lot. Making it out of Spring Hill alive is a feat in itself. Some of us even resorted to hanging out at a busy intersection to pass the time. We’ve gone from going to see A Christmas Carol every year with our elementary school, admiring over the actors, to actually being an actor in the production of A Christmas Carol, being the ones asked for their autograph by the younger kids. We’ve gone from getting our star pulled for bad behavior, to being relocated to STAR for bad behavior. From girls wearing bell bottom jeans to guys wearing girl’s jeans. From listening to N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys, to listening to Lil’ Wayne and Flo’Rida. From wasting all of our time creating a Neopet, to wasting all of our time talking to people on Myspace and Facebook. From collecting and playing Pokemon, to, well, collecting and playing Pokemon. Some things never die. Unfortunately for us, it looks as if High School Musical and Hannah Montana will never die either. You either love it, or you hate, but either way, we survived it.

Four years ago, we showed up for high school, short and innocent, totally baffled by why there were classrooms with the same numbers, and amazed that the water fountains were gold. Then in our junior year, after we had become more knowledgeable and grown taller (well, some of us), those numbers we came to learn so well were completely rearranged, forcing us to be just as lost as the incoming freshmen. The construction period was intense. We were squeezed through tiny aisles created by temporary walls, never making it to class on time. The outdoor lunch tables that some had religiously sat at were removed, and we were relocated to a grander, spacious cafeteria with plasma TV screens that never played anything but ESPN. Those of us lucky enough to get a lunch leave pass during our junior year had no idea that we’d be the last class to have that privilege. Sure enough, everyday you could find at least fifteen people meeting up at PJ’s for lunch. Oh, and you can’t forget the new parking lot rules, that you were trapped in the parking lot until all of the buses left, for fear of being hit by a parked school bus. We all know the countless deaths caused by those kinds of accidents, God rest their souls.

When it all comes down to it, we’re made for bigger things than this. We’re going to get out of here, and we’re going to live our lives, no doubt about that. Just remember to keep in touch. You’ll regret it if you don’t. As I said, there are hard times ahead. There are times where you’ll just sit there and think to yourself, “Man, I lost the game.” Times like that when you’re going to need a friend. Don’t throw away the friendships you’ve made here. One of these people might be able to get you a job someday, or might be able to lend you a helping hand. Life is all about connections.

Now I’ve been talking long enough. We’re all dying to just get this over with. So I’m going to resort to a cliché ending, and quote one of the most influential men of all time, Freddie Mercury. “Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here.” Congratulations class of 2009, we did it!

Springstead High School’s class of 2009. Look around you. This is it.

Ever since I learned what the letters GPA stood for, I have striven to be a part of this ceremony, presenting this valedictory address. Yet, I stand before you tonight, speechless. Here I am; having accomplished everything I had ever hoped to achieve in high school, and I cannot think of a single thing to say that may remain with you throughout your life. What is there left to say that has not already been said?

The most important thing that I could think to tell you tonight is to remember where you came from. You were once an eagle. Stay true to who you are, and who you have become throughout the past four years. Do not conform your values or your personality for the sake of anyone else’s. We have all matured tremendously into unique, educated individuals, each with a strong sense of self and a firm grasp of reality. Do not relinquish your individuality to correspond with the common standard. When you do, you will begin to lose your grasp on who you are, and everything that has contributed towards the creation of your exclusive singular being will start to erode. Theatre productions will seem stale without our dramatics, and the hallways will seem bare devoid of our presence. Frankly, Springstead is going to be a lonely place without us.

But the time is ours. Right now, this is the most important moment of your life, the pinnacle of everything you have worked for over the past 13 years. You will walk out of this stadium tonight as a changed individual. You have scaled the mountain, overcome the obstacles, won the game. However, in 30 years, when you look back at this moment, it will be nothing more than a distant memory, shrouded in foggy details and forgotten quotes. By then, you will have already encountered countless other challenges, some easier than others. There will be trials that, just like today, you will undertake and accomplish. There will also be those times where you will not succeed, but I urge you not to become discouraged. Instead, grow. You will learn that the obstacles you face will never cease to test you, and avoiding them is inconceivable. However, there is always so much more out there that we have yet to experience, and it is up to us to go out there and tackle life.

Now, graduates, take a moment and look at the student sitting to your right. Where will they be in 30 years? You are now surrounded by more potential than you have been in your entire life. We are the doctors, lawyers, and scientists of tomorrow. Perhaps one of us will climb the political ladder, reaching towards a future presidency. The possibilities are endless. In the final analysis, life goes on. We are going to leave these hallowed halls, and we are going to live our lives, no doubt about that. The introduction to our story has now been completed, but the chapters have yet to be written. This is not something we have done before, such as another essay, or a response to an FCAT passage. This is our future and it is finally in our own hands. It is now up to us to seize the pen and start writing. The truth is, everyone wants to be remembered. We all want to leave our mark, our legacy upon the world. Whether we realize this desire or not, it festers within us all. Tomorrow will begin the first chapter of our lives, our first chance to lay down our own lasting impressions, to prove that we really did exist. The way it will be written is up to you. How will you be remembered?

Congratulations class of 2009

We must go back to the basics, “blocking and tackling” , to know our government officials. This is Part Two of a Step by Step Tutorial that will lead us to know our officials, keep track of them, know what they stand for, know how to judge them, and take us from “back row moron” to “Head of the Class”  with this knowledge: 

1. Go to Congress.org enter your zip code.
2. A Complete listing of all your governmnet officials will appear arranged from U.S. President through State officials. Click on “Officials” in the top heading for a list of House and Senate leaders.
3. Use the Name Links to obtain biographical, representative views, and opinions on current issues. Read this information using a questioning “grain of salt”.
4. Print this list out, use it as your “Evaluation Guide” and LEARN this list!

Next you want to be able to research the voting records of these officials to judge their performance. Are they working for you?…their own political interests?…or something even more sinister?…

1. Go to Votesmart.org, in the upper left corner enter the official’s name whose voting record you want to research and evaluate,  Click GO         
2. A Complete Listing  for the official will appear . Over on the right side there are Links that take you to the officials Voting Record, Issue Positions, and other valuable information.
3. Print this information, study and learn where these people stand.
4. Do this for officials that are running for another office, such as a senator running for U.S. President.
5. Make This Your Business, Your Responsibility!…

We must be educated and prepared to change the political landscape by voting out the bad officials who aren’t working for us and  who are about to destroy America. No more sitting around muttering to ourselves about how bad things are getting and saying “This Should Not Happen In America”. Get off your bottom and out of your safe little social circles.

Remember, nearly 40% of registered voters did not vote in the 2008 Presidential Election. A high percentage of these voters were Conservative/Republican voters who stayed away from the polls. In the past weeks “Tea Parties” across America have been instrumental in waking Conservative minded folks up and there are many more planned. 

Do your own social event. Employ the three “C’s”,… Cokes, Charcoal, and Chat. Have a cookout, invite friends and neighbors and instead of talking about what football coach is next to be fired, Talk About What We Can Do to take our Country, our Freedoms, and our Free Enterprise back. 

When you know what your government officials are doing, using the tools outlined here, you will have Power and Ammunition. You can judge whether these people should be in office. As a Conservative American if they aren’t working for YOU…Find Someone Better and Work to Elect Them!  Go To The Head Of The Class!

Who is President of the United States? Do you know who the Speaker of the House of Representatives is? What does Joe Biden do?….and Who is Harry Reed? What about your State Senators, do you know who they are and what they stand for? What about some guy named Geitner,…how is he affecting your life and future?

If a road block was set up anywhere in the United States right now for the sole purpose of asking each driver to name the government officials  running America for them from President down to their local elected representatives almost all would fail miserably…

Jay Leno who just wrapped up 17 years on “The Tonight Show” had a popular bit called “Jay Walking” where he asked numerous questions to people on the street about government leaders and rarely did anyone know who the president was even when shown a picture. This used to seem funny, but not anymore. Looking at the video display featured in the previous post, no wonder we’ve got Liberal government officials taking us down the road to Socialism amd Bankruptcy faster than the speed of light. We have to conclude that “We Have Met The Enemy And He Is Us!”
